Leadership Behaviours

Encourage employee suggestions and feedback

How to engage employees in your business culture and performance.

Introduce an employee suggestion scheme to make staff feel supported and involved, and to help improve processes, products or services. Simply having a scheme isn’t enough – you need to have the processes, incentives and leadership necessary to ensure that good suggestions are put forward and employees can see them being implemented. Toyota’s suggestion scheme receives hundreds of thousands of suggestions each year and its leaders believe that it became most effective when it was opened up to all employees. The slogan for the programme: “Good Thinking, Good Products” is displayed prominently throughout Toyota’s offices and factories across the globe. Such schemes can positively impact both small and large organisations.
