Formulate good values with staff
How to create a meaningful vision or set of values.
Use small groups of employees to help formulate your business’s values. This helps achieve buy-in from your wider team as you go forward. Patrick Lencioni, founder of The Table Group management consultancy, suggests forming a small team that includes the CEO, any founders who are still with the company where relevant, and a handful of key employees. He cites the example of pharmaceutical company MedPointe whose CEO wanted the business to have a unique culture, and who worked with seven managers who personified qualities that the businesses leaders wanted to encourage. The group chose two core values: a can-do attitude and a tireless pursuit of results.
