Invest in digital skills training

Invest in digital skills training for all employees, and encourage staff to take up courses to learn new skills. Companies which aren’t engaging in digital skills training are not only preventing employees from developing but are hampering the digital transformation of the business. There are plenty of free training options available, such as those at Google’s Digital Garage and events at the Business and Intellectual Property Centre in Newcastle and the British Library. Last year, the UK government launched the Digital Strategy to plug skills and knowledge gaps across the country. In total, four million free digital skills training will be offered, with Google, Barclays, Lloyds Banking and BT among the companies providing opportunities.
