Motivation

Open up the feedback process

How to motivate and engage your employees.

Democratise the employee feedback process to increase the flow of ideas from your team. Here are two examples of ways that you can do that. (1) Create a process that goes well beyond the suggestion box idea. Marketing agency Quirk created a process that starts with having an idea, getting supporters, developing a one-page proposal, vetting that with the feedback manager, and sending it to the executive committee. (2) Use “feedback coaches”, a list of dedicated people from whom employees choose to share their ideas. Financial services company The Motley Fool found the best way to get honest feedback using this system was to change the person to whom employees gave it, instead of reporting to their boss.
