Performance management
Respond to performance measures in a clear way
How to measure performance.
Introduce a standardised system which allows managers to measure and then communicate the results of performance reviews to employees. Managers should deal with issues of poor performance early or run the risk of the problem getting worse. The Institute of Employment Studies offers this handy mnemonic for remembering the way to deal with poor performance called TAPS. T – it should done in a timely and early fashion. A – the management style and response should be appropriate to the nature of the poor performance. P – it should be dealt with in private. S – action taken should be specific to the relevant area of performance.
