Be innovative to retain your best staff

Keeping talented staff members in your company means accepting that traditional working conditions and standards may no longer apply, believes entrepreneur Callum Negus-Fancey.

Technology business Verve spends a great deal of management time and investment in training and development to change the working behaviour of its employees. That’s because it is unlikely that many have experienced such an innovative culture before. Staff are free to only attend meetings of their choice and enjoy unlimited holidays.

“We embed our core principles of freedom, mastery and ownership as we believe this gets the best out of people,” explained co-founder Negus-Fancey. “Our employees have clear goals and the ability to choose how they reach them. It is up to them how they hit those goals. They can take all the holiday they need. It is a process of unlearning what they have experienced before.”

Discover how this approach fits into a wider effort to monitor your best performing staff and empower them.
